The Checkline HPSAO Shore Durometer is ideal for determining the Shore surface hardness of foams, steering wheels and inner linings of motor vehicles with hardness less than 20 Shore A. For measuring the hardness, the spring-loaded outer ring of the housing is pressed downwards until the edge of the ring meets the colored marking on the housing. This ensures a constant pressure and prevents measuring errors. The principle used to measure shore hardness is based on measuring the resistance force of the penetration of a pin into the test material under a known spring load. The amount of penetration is converted to hardness reading on a scale with 100 shore units. As the depth of indentation is max. 2.5 mm the test material has to have a minimum thickness of 6 mm. If thickness is less stack some samples til you reach the required thickness.

The Checkline OS-300-2 Durometer Test Stand is designed for use with the Check-Line AD-300 and DD-300 Analog Durometers. Use of a test stand significantly reduces the errors that are caused by measurements by hand which are sensitive to subjective test errors, caused by differing load application forces or non-vertical application of the durometer to the test piece. The OS-300-2 durometer test stand works on the constant load principle. To conduct hardness (durometer) measurements, the product sample is positioned on the support table. The Durometer is lowered down to contact the test sample by pulling the manual lever. The fixed-mounted durometer insures a predictable and repeatable perpendicular contact of the test samples. All measurement values are shown directly on the analogue durometer. The test stand is made of rugged and light weight aluminum which provides convenient adjustment of the vertical position of the durometer to accommodate a wide variety of sample sizes and shapes. A mechanical overload mechanism is provided to prevent the durometer from making direct contact with the support table.

The CLW Constant Load WeightRX-CLW is designed to slide onto the lower barrel of the gauge to give it a wider foot, and raise the mass of the gauge to the suggested 1k. A common error when using a durometer is to imbed the foot of the gauge into the specimen by pressing down with excessive force. This standard states that for types A, B, and O the gauge should be pressed onto the specimen with a load of 1 kg. The Constant Load Weight for gauges with an 822g springload (types A, B, O) slides onto the lower barrel of the gauge, gives it a wider foot, and raises the mass of the gauge to the suggested 1kg. With the load weight on the gauge, all the user has to do is set the gauge on the test specimen - no further pressure is necessary. Thus the Constant load weight eliminates the human error that would otherwise occur due to users pressing on excessive or inconsistent force. Constant Load Weights are precision CNC machined from stainless steel and are polished and calibrated by skilled craftsmen. in the USA. As stated above, a common error when using a durometer is to imbed the foot of the gauge into the specimen by pressing down with excessive force. All Rex instruments are made in accordance with ASTM D-2240. This standard states that for types OO and OOO the gauge should be pressed onto the specimen with a load of 400g. The Rex Constant Load Weight for the type OO and OOO gauges screws onto the top of the gauge and raises the mass of the gauge to the suggested 400g.

The Rex OS-AUTO Automatic Durometer Operating Stand is a stand that provides constant load, controlled rate of descent, and application velocity, through a geared electric motor and braking mechanism that alternately lowers the durometer onto the specimen and then raises it in preparation for the next test. This OS-AUTO also provides an electronic timer that can adjust the amount of time the durometer remains in the lowered position (dwell time). The durometer and carriage assembly have a mass sufficient for use with Types A, B and O. The incorporation of the large detachable mass is required for testing with Type C, D and DO durometers. The Rex RX-1600-A120 durometer is designed for testing the hardness of skateboard wheels that measures up to 120 on the "A" scale. Normal type A durometers only read to 100 however as wheel manufacturers began to satisfy the demand from riders who wanted harder wheels, wheels with hardness ratings over 100 A became available. Our RX-1600-A120 features a dial that reads from 20 to 120 on the "A" scale to allow wheel manufacturers and riders to accurately measure their wheels in the over 100 range.

The Rex RX-BF Big Foot Durometer Foot Adapter is designed to increases the diameter of the foot from 1/2" to 1 3/8" diameter. One of the most common problems durometer users experience is false readings due to pressing too firmly on the gauge and imbedding the foot of the gauge into the test specimen. To make durometers a good instrument for testing in hard to reach areas, we designed our gauges with the smallest foot possible which is 1/2" diameter. This small foot makes it easy for an inexperienced user to imbed the foot of the gauge into the soft specimens thus obtaining false readings. One simple way to prevent this operator error is to install a Big Foot attachment onto the lower barrel of the gauge.

The Rex RX-DD-5 Digital Durometer with Adjustable Timer is the latest innovation for performing timed hardness testing. The RX-DD-5 is equipped with an adjustable timer and onscreen countdown that can be set to delay from 0-30 seconds. The Multi-Scale base kit consists of an analog display with a type A, D and OO durometer barrel. A complete kit is supplied with an analog display and A, D, B, C, DO, O, OO, OOO durometer barrels. Changing scales is accomplished by unscrewing one barrel and replacing it with another - no supplementary calibration or adjustments are necessary. A test block, calibrated to the selected scale is also included. The block allows the user to perform quick functional checks on the instrument. The indicator and barrels are made in the USA, and are calibrated to the ASTM-D2240 standard for durometer hardness testers.

The Rex SWC-1 RX Lab Durometer Software is invaluable in helping to produce and analyze durometer hardness test data. The RX Lab Software, used in conjunction with the RX Digital Durometer and a PC, allows users to automatically collect, record, and print test data, create statistical information (tolerance, range, mean, variance, standard of deviation), and perform timed tests with a visual graph. The software interfaces with the DD-3 Digital Durometer through the provided RS-232 cable.
